About

My name is Marie-Aimée. I was born in France, in the heart of the Alps, where I grew up in a family passionate about the arts and the mountains. At the age of 8, I was gifted my first camera from my Mother. I love to explore in nature, tinkering with my camera and surroundings. My greatest pleasure is in honoring every moment that I wish to share with my loved ones.

In 2012, I was selected by Jean Rostand's Audiovisual Technicians school in Roubaix (France). For 2 years, I studied the secrets of the image, through fiction, reporting and theater. I studied light and framing and specialized in documentaries. During my internship, I met Sophie Arlot and Fabien Rabin in Ménigoute near the French Institute of Animal Cinema. Under their guidance, I learned to hide, observe, write nature film scenarios and discovered the incredible poetic force of nature through the lens. I also met at this time, the fantastic IFFCAM students and I continue to be inspired every day by their teachings : Try to be invisible in nature, never disturb animals, and share the beauty of precious moments we live in nature to invite people to reconnect with their environnement.

I decided to hit the road on completion of my studies. First with a simple backpack, then with a truck self-converted into a small house on wheels. During the last 10 years, I travelled through Senegal, Gambia, Indonesia, Borneo, USA, Spain, Portugal, England, Belgium, Croatia, Morocco, and passed through many parts of my country, France. In June 2023, I moved to Canada - dreaming of wide open spaces, and being closer to nature. I arrived in Fernie by chance. I felt in love with the community, the connection with the environnement and all the wild adventures I can live just next to my door.

The diversity of the wildlife, the beauty of the landscapes and the raw experiences during all these trips around the world resonate deep within me: It is in front of nature, my camera in hand, that I feel more alive than ever. There is always a story, an emotion, an encounter behind every one of my photographs. It continues to be my desire to share this connection with people.

Christmas budike

I wanted to greatly thank the Relief Project for offering me the opportunity to exhibit some prints on December 9 and 10.

I wanted to thank YOU even more, because all of my prints have found a forever home, and my images would be nothing without those who view them. I have some regrets about not being able to be present, and I hope that my images will soon find a place in the wilds of Canada.

Until then, take care of yourself, and stay connected, it is not impossible that things will happen again in the lands of my roots.
